Few countries in the world can match the rich and varied wildlife that South Africa has to offer. Complimentary to its wildlife are some of the best maintained national parks and private reserves worldwide, magnificent lodgings, fine food and wines, first-world infrastructure and superb value for money. It is not surprising that South Africa is one of the most popular of wildlife destinations on the planet. With many years of experience in this beautiful country, the Indri team has proudly assembled a unique tour taking in the very best of South Africa. Ranging from the “Big Five” megafauna, secretive nocturnal skulkers (including Aardvark and Aardwolf), calving Southern Right Whales, curious Meerkats to breaching Great White Sharks, South Africa has a lot to offer the wildlife enthusiast!
We will cruise upon the deep waters of the icy Atlantic for Southern Right Whales and Great White Sharks, walk the flower laden slopes of the Cape Mountains with Chacma Baboons and travel the remote landscapes of Bushmanland. Moving North we explore the Kalahari for it famous black-maned Lions, rare Brown Hyena, Leopard and Cheetah. While less common the Honey Badger and the endearing Meerkat will hopefully be added to our list.
The Kruger National Park is undoubtedly one of Africa’s most legendary reserves. We will explore the park on foot and in vehicles and attempt to locate big game, including the legendary “Big 5” - Lion, African Elephant, Leopard, African Buffalo and White Rhinoceros. Other highly sought-after animals we have a chance of finding are Cheetah, African Wild Dog, Hippopotamus and a myriad of antelope. Some nights we will head out in open jeeps in search of nocturnal mammals, where we may even observe a thrilling hunt!
